I'm sorry to hear that... This morning in church, our pastor was talking about how our earthly fathers give us our perspective on God as our Heavenly Father. It was very interesting. Would you say that this is a factor for you?
There are good qualities of fatherhood that I have seen in my dad, and things about earthly fatherhood can definitely help us understand things about our Father. But, even though my mom and dad are Christians, 95% of the time, i don't consider them to be spiritual role models.

No matter how good or bad of role models they are, God still intends for you to learn from them and respect them as "In the place of God". Right?
Parents aren't in the place of God...And yes, we should respect them but that doesn't mean we have to aspire to be like them.
